Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Director of Care Workers Services, the Communications Director plays a pivotal leadership role in advancing the mission of RISE Partnership. This role is responsible for developing, executing, and overseeing strategic communications that effectively reach and engage key audiences, including care workers, stakeholders, and the broader community. The Communications Director will lead a team of communication professionals and work closely with internal teams, leadership, and external partners to enhance brand visibility, drive engagement, and ensure consistent messaging.

 

Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with the organization’s mission and strategic objectives
  • Lead and oversee all internal and external communications, ensuring clarity, consistency, and impact
  • Elevate the success of key programs through targeted and effective communication initiatives
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a high-performing communications team, fostering collaboration and innovation
  • Analyze, interpret, and communicate the impact of organizational changes to internal teams, implementing effective change management strategies
  • Provide strategic guidance and messaging support to the Executive Leadership team
  • Strengthen and enhance RISE Partnership’s brand awareness and reputation by ensuring cohesive and impactful messaging across all channels
  • Cultivate trust and credibility through transparency, authenticity, and thought leadership
  • Develop and implement strategies to engage stakeholders and enhance partnerships through communication efforts
  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize communication effectiveness using performance metrics and industry best practices
  • Oversee the communications budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in communication and public relations
  • Apply an equity lens to all communications strategies, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility in messaging and outreach.

Qualifications


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Creative storyteller with the ability to translate complex topics into engaging and accessible content
  • Expertise in digital content creation, including graphic design, video production, and photography
  • Proficiency in website content management systems, social media platforms, and digital marketing tools
  • Project management skills with a track record of leading teams to successful project completion
  • Experience working with project management software (e.g., Asana or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in both Mac and PC environments, with the ability to use industry-standard software and tools
  • Experience communicating effectively with bilingual and multicultural audiences is highly preferred

 

Experience

  • Minimum of seven (7) years experience in Strategic communications, marketing, or public relations in a complex organizational environment
  • At least three (3) years of supervisory experience required
  • Experience working with boards, government agencies, labor unions, and community stakeholders preferred
  • Familiarity with in-home care workers, non-profits, or start-up environments is highly desirable.

 

Working Conditions - Hybrid in or near Portland, OR (Flexible Work from Home Model) 

  • Readiness to work occasional long hours, weekends 
  • Able to travel between worksites and/or meeting locations within the state 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position directly supervises a team of communication professionals.
