Control Engineer

Position - Senior Controls Engineer

Location - Spartanburg SC

Salary - $130,000

Duration - Full time

Summary:

• This position focuses on providing controls for automated equipment, with primary responsibilities including PLC and HMI programming, network commissioning troubleshooting, and equipment integration.
• Design, develop, evaluate, and optimize manufacturing methods, controls, devices, and systems to improve productivity and minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot and work with Allen-Bradley PLCs (500, RS Logix, Micro Logix, Compact Logix, Control Logix) and Siemens PLCs to ensure peak system performance.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve issues related to scrap, downtime, and equipment failures to enhance process reliability.
• Lead the execution of process changes, automation projects, and the installation of new equipment across various locations.
• Develop and maintain electrical and control schematics, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Provide technical support during system commissioning, start-ups, and ongoing maintenance both locally and internationally.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (preferred)
• 5 years of experience in automation controls/electrical engineering
• Strong proficiency in PLC and HMI programming with Allen-Bradley and Siemens systems
• Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills for complex automation systems
• Experience with Ethernet/IP Industrial Protocol, vision sensors, and barcode scanning systems
• Proven ability to identify root causes of issues, implement solutions, and drive continuous improvement
• Flexibility to work varying hours and travel
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings (mechanical drawings would be a bonus) and control schematics
• Experience working with robotic systems and robot controllers
