What are the responsibilities and job description for the Apprentice Equipment Tech position at Rite-Hite?
Production & Skilled Trades Schedule:
Full-time opportunity for an entry-level Service Technician to receive extensive initial training.
This position focuses on developing technical and customer service skills while assisting senior Technicians and Team Leaders, with occasional independent work.
The goal is to prepare the Apprentice for a future role as an Installation Technician, not a long-term assignment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop technical skills, knowledge of supported product lines, and proficiency in following company policies and procedures.
- Timely completion of assigned tasks, either individually or under the guidance of a senior Technician.
- Compliance with all company policies and safety guidelines.
- Assist in the installation, inspection, service, and repair of equipment in the field under the direction of a senior Installation Technician.
- May be assigned to performance planned maintenance and other uninvolved tasks.
- Complete all required training classes and modules to demonstrate proficiency and understanding.
- Accurately complete necessary paperwork associated with field service, repair, and installation using handheld devices or paper backup forms.
- Maintain compliance with operation and communication standards as per the Field Technician Handbook.
- Operate truck-based cranes, forklifts, welders, torches, and power and hand tools.
- Follow customer-specific requirements, policies, and directions on their work sites.
Requirements:
- Prior mechanical, electrical, or welding experience is helpful but not required.
- Passing DOT medical exam.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
