What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Superintendent position at Ritz Construction Inc.?

Primary Function:
Assist the Superintendent with day-to-day activities and operations of a construction site, from planning to completion. An assistant superintendent can be expected to assist in scheduling, supervising activities, and ensuring safety and regulation compliance of the job site.
Key Responsibilities are and not limited to:
An Assistant Superintendent assists with the following:
· Prepare project lookaheads to be presented to subcontractors and client. Maintain and update on a weekly basis.
· Field supervision of daily work of subcontractors, suppliers and/or vendors including flow of materials on/off job site and coordinating access by approved personnel to their work areas.
· Assist in schedule and planning with subcontractors/ vendors in critical path to ensure timely completion of their contracted scope of work.
· Work with architects, engineers and/or consultants in pre-development/planning of upcoming projects to assist in obtaining permits and/or approval of revisions of plans etc.
· Perform quality control duties and responsibilities with Superintendent regarding the work being performed.
· Attend weekly subcontractor meetings designed to coordinate the current/future work.
· Assist in coordinating all required inspections with local, state, and federal jurisdictions for code compliance.
· Identify subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards and remedies on site and/or report to management for further resolution if the need arises.
· Identify conflicts or issues with construction progress and communicate them to management for discussion and resolution of such.
· Help in maintaining daily reports of activities and/or happenings on the job site.
· Ensure subcontractors have corrected all deficiencies identified by management in a documented way
· Assist in ensuring that the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner.
· Maintain project files for materials, tracking submissions, safety data sheets, operation manuals, approvals & permitting etc.
· Perform Assistant Superintendent duties at multiple job sites, simultaneously if necessary.
· Walk jobsite throughout the day to monitor activities and assist in future planning.

· This position involves work at a construction and/or land development site where duties will be performed both indoors and outdoors.
· The employee is often required to stand and walk; climb, balance; stoop, kneel, and crouch to regularly inspect job sites.
· The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may be required to sit for hours during meetings and/or to process their paperwork etc.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred.
- Knowledge of construction industry standards, building codes, equipment, methods, and contracts.
· Demonstrated business acumen with strong presentation, communication (verbal and written), problem solving, financial and leadership skills.
· Ability to maintain composure, professionalism and objectivity in difficult situations and effectively resolve conflicts.
· Computer skills in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software based on project requirements
· Ability to pass a government background check to work on Military Bases and in Government Facilities.
· Must hold a valid Driver’s License
