Superintendent of Schools

The Rivendell Interstate School District, a NH-VT interstate district, is seeking an experienced administrator to lead its pre-k-12 school district of 413 students with a $15 million annual budget. The single-board, single-budget district consists of two pre-k-5 schools and one 6-12 middle/high school The district's mission is to foster the intellectual, social, and personal development of its students. Our goal is that they will become lifelong learners, positive contributors to their communities, and productive, healthy adults. The Rivendell communities, with a total population of 3,518 in total, are located in Orange County, VT, and Grafton County, NH. The towns are rich in history having been incorporated in the mid-eighteenth century. At the foothills of the Green Mountains, and settled along the picturesque Connecticut and Ompompanoosuc Rivers, the area boasts scenic beauty and abundant outdoor activities. We are within commuting distance of both Dartmouth College and the medical center. The area is home to Lake Fairlee and the world-class Lake Morey Resort. Montreal and Boston are less than three hours away. The board seeks a collaborative leader who is a transparent and effective communicator. The successful candidate will have strong fiscal management skills and demonstrated experience in engaging the the school community. The ideal candidate will:

• Be a proactive communicator who enjoys and welcomes listening to and engaging with multiple and diverse stakeholder groups
• Communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing
• Keep children's education and growth as a top priority
• Have the ability to navigate uncertainty and ambiguity in times of change, and to prioritize work efforts to achieve overall strategy as defined in collaboration with the Board of Education.
• Bring the vision and leadership skills necessary to build on existing successes while tackling challenges and opportunities
• And have demonstrated experience in: school district financial and administrative management in either Vermont or New Hampshire educational statute and law with the ability to learn both systems.
