Job Overview:
As a Field Guide/Docent, you will play a crucial role in providing enriching educational experiences for visitors, school children and groups both on-site and at various locations away from the facility. This position is part-time, and non-exempt.

Description of Organization:
River Bend Nature Center (RBNC) in Wichita Falls, Texas is a twenty-acre, private 501 c(3) non-profit environmental education facility that serves the communities of North Texas and southeastern Oklahoma. Uniquely placed in a conflux of geographical regions, River Bend connects people to their natural environment through educational activities, environmental awareness, and conservation examples. RBNC recognizes that education is a fundamental tool for preserving the environment and the personal health of a community.
Job Duties:
· Educational Programs and Tours: Conduct educational programs and tours both on off-site.
· Public Engagement: Engage with the general public during facility visits by providing exhibit interpretation and other informative insights. Answer questions and provide assistance to enhance the overall visitor experience.
· Training: Participate in training sessions, workshops to learn educational materials and programs.
· Community Engagement: Participate in community events to raise awareness about RBNC
· Facility Management: Ensure a clean, safe and welcoming environment for staff, volunteers, and visitors.
· Animal Care: Assist withdaily care, feeding, and enrichment activities for a variety of animals. Maintain clean and safe habitats. Monitor the health and behavior of animals, promptly reporting any concerns.
· Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of program or animal care activities as needed.
· Financial Transactions and Cash Management: Receive payments and issue receipts, keep track of cash and credit transactions, and maintaining accurate records.
· Misc.: Perform and assist with all other duties as directed by the Operations/Finance and Education Director of RBNC
Required Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or relevant experience
· Previous experience in conducting educational programs or tours or working with children in a learning environment is preferred
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, both verbal and written
· Interest in working with the public including children and adults
· Willingness to learn materials, rules, exhibits and history of facility
· Strong knowledge and passion for nature conservation, environmental education, and sustainability
· Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
· Proficiency in Google Office suite
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
· Ability to sit at a desk and work with a computer for extended periods of time
· Able to lift 30 lbs
· Can tolerate indoor and outdoor work environments including exposure to outdoor elements
