Summary
Responsible for project implementation from design to completion, including control panel design, material ordering, control system programming, on-site commissioning, and ongoing support. Supporting customer systems, maintaining customer relationships, and willing to stay up to date with the latest industry standards in programming and electrical engineering technology.
Primary Responsibilities
- Confer with engineers, customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products
- Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes
- Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks
- Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements
- Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications
- Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards
- Plan and implement research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects
- Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment
- Supervise and train project team members as necessary
- Investigate and test vendors’ and competitors’ products
- Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget
- Prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, and topographical maps to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements
- Develop bids/budgets by estimating labor, material, and construction costs
- Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects
- Comply with company, customer, and OSHA safety requirements
- Participate in company related safety/medical tests (e.g. background & drug screenings, physicals, hearing tests, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned
Job Specifications
- 4Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
- Willingness to learn or knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved with plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
- Willingness to learn or knowledge of National Fire Protection Association/National Electrical Code Standards
- Ability to learn or current knowledge of all OSHA requirements in relation to electrical engineering and company safety policies
- Able to take classes/training regarding product, hardware, software, electrical codes, safety programs, manufacture-specific, management, and others deemed necessary
- Willingness to learn or proficiency with AutoCAD program
- Ability to learn or knowledge of PLC programming and HMI programming software
- Possess a good command of PC Skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Possess good communication skills
- Able to perform after hours emergency service calls if required
- Able to travel to job locations that will require overnight stays
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Able to perform tasks and work with minimal supervision, work cooperatively with others, and possess good teamwork mentality
- Possess exemplary organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Independent thinking and problem-solving abilities encouraged
Education
BSEE degree from a university accredited by the ABET, Associates of Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
