River Edge is currently seeking a Full-time Group Leader/Certified Peer Specialist for the Judiciary In-reach Program. Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Group Leader will meet with detainees in a group setting in the jail to conduct group session for both male and female detainees in the areas of mental health and substance use disorder. River Edge professionals shall help identify non-violent misdemeanor offenders who need mental health services, and work with Bibb County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) to refer them to appropriate care.
Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:30AM-5:00PM

Duties and Responsibilities
Assist detainees in articulating personal goals for recovery through the use group sessions. During these sessions the Group Leader will support detainees in identifying and creating goals and developing recovery plans with the skills, strengths, supports and resources to aid them in achieving those goals.
Assist detainees in working with their case manager in determining the steps he/she needs to take in order to achieve these goals and self-directed recovery.
Generating recovery reviews and performance documents to track the rehabilitation process.
Observing behavior and evidence of general well-being and discusses observations with the clients.
Report any unusual behavior, conflicts, or recovery deviations to the relevant professionals.
Qualifications
Certified Peer Specialist Certification (Required)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social services related disciplines (Social work, sociology, psychology). (preferred)
WHAM Certified, Forensic Peer Specialist (preferred).
Previous experience working in a behavioral health care setting is preferred.
All applicants must pass a satisfactory background clearance and pre-employment drug test.
Provide 2 Professional references (Former employers only, no family members)
Must have strong clinical skills.
Must have excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
Must have ability to multi-task and remain organized.
Competencies
Counseling and Facilitation Skills: Ability to lead group sessions effectively, facilitating discussions to help detainees articulate personal goals and develop recovery plans. This includes active listening, empathy, and guiding discussions towards constructive outcomes.
Case Management: Proficiency in working collaboratively with case managers to determine actionable steps towards achieving detainees' goals and self-directed recovery. This involves coordinating resources, setting timelines, and monitoring progress.
Documentation and Reporting: Skill in generating accurate and comprehensive recovery reviews and performance documents to track rehabilitation progress. This includes recording observations, milestones achieved, and any deviations from the recovery plan.
Communication: Clear and effective communication is essential for building rapport with detainees, conveying information, and collaborating with other professionals. This skill is crucial for facilitating group sessions, discussing observations with clients, and reporting any concerns.
Emotional Intelligence: Understanding and managing emotions, both for oneself and others, is vital in this role. Empathy, patience, and the ability to navigate sensitive topics with detainees contribute to creating a supportive environment for recovery.
