Youth Substance Use Treatment Coordinator - Adult/Child Care Management

Job Summary:

The Youth Substance Use Treatment Coordinator will be the regional expert in child and adolescent substance use and mental health disorder treatment.  The YSUTC will collaborate and coordinate with other CMHC programs that have contact with individuals (children, adolescents, young adults) currently having of at risk of developing SUD.  These programs include but are not limited to SUD treatment programs, KY Moms MATR, various child/adolescent/young adult treatment service providers, Regional Prevention Centers, etc.  The YSUTC will meet all funding requirements goals in providing services that include but are not limited to consultation, referral, education, training, technical assistance, coaching, outreach, and implementation support.  

Essential Functions:

• Provide community outreach and education in order to raise youth substance use awareness (non-billable)
• Oversee development and maintenance of an evidence-based continuum of developmentally appropriate services and supports for children/youth/young adults with or at risk of SUD and mental health disorders, and for their families
• Provide implementation support (training, education, technical assistance) to CMHC staff (i.e., clinicians, TCMs, PSS, Prevention staff, etc.) through evidence-based services/supports (screening, assessment, treatment, recovery) specific to youth with or at risk of developing SUD and/or co-occurring mental health disorders
• Collaborate with child/youth support staff, SUD service providers, Regional Prevention Center staff, and other CMHC programs serving children/youth who are at risk as mentioned above (non-billable)
• Be familiar with and possibly provide evidence-based, developmentally appropriate screening, assessment, and treatment services and supports (individual, group, family contacts) to children/youth meeting criteria as mentioned above
• Complete an agency-wide needs assessment of evidence-based practices for children/youth with SUD as offered within the agency, across all relevant programs and addressing specific parameters as outlined in state contract
• Develop trainings based on above-mentioned needs assessment outcomes
• Attend YSUTC peer group meetings as hosted by DBHDID
• Attend all individual and groups supervisions as required by role
• Perform any other duties as required
• Coordinate multidisciplinary services, including counseling, medical treatment, and social support, to ensure a holistic approach to recovery.
• Client Case Management:
• Conduct initial assessments, develop treatment plans, and ensure timely execution of services.
• Monitor and evaluate client progress, adjusting care plans as necessary to address evolving needs.
• Facilitate group and individual therapy sessions to address substance use issues, mental health concerns, and coping strategies.
• Family and Community Engagement:
• Work with families to help them understand and support the recovery process of the youth in treatment.
• Act as a liaison with schools, juvenile justice systems, and other community organizations to advocate for client needs.
• Organize outreach programs to educate the community on youth substance use prevention and treatment resources.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
2. Licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or equivalent preferred.
3. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in substance use treatment, preferably with youth populations.
4. Knowledge of evidence-based treatment models for substance use disorders, including trauma-informed care and motivational interviewing.
5. Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
6. Experience working with diverse populations and maintaining cultural sensitivity.
