Role Description
The Branch Manager shall be responsible for fostering a professional, and service-focused culture resulting in an exceptional experience for our Credit Union’s member-owners. He or she will advise members on products to meet their financial objectives and may make referrals to other departments within the organization. They shall maintain expertise in Credit Union operations, policies and procedures and applicable State and Federal regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Leading by example, successfully managing member relations and promoting superior member service by coaching, guiding and providing accountability to the branch operations team.
Making sound operational decisions to serve members, maintaining compliance with regulations and internal policies and reducing risk to the Credit Union.
Exercising judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within stated guidelines, or escalating to Senior Management for further assistance.
Managing and directing the work of the branch operations team, scheduling appropriate team members, assigning duties, providing training, conducting performance evaluations and taking any remedial actions necessary to ensure excellent performance.
Ensuring efficient daily operation of branch, assisting team members in all phases of their duties, including opening or closing the branch office, serving members, balancing cash drawers, and following security procedures.
Decisioning share draft and ACH exceptions, applying fees as appropriate and making necessary account and general ledger entries.
Demonstrating knowledge and compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Truth in Savings, and other applicable laws and regulations.
Maintaining proficiency in all Credit Union software and systems to manage member accounts, general ledgers, and other functions of branch operations.
Identifying areas of branch improvement and proposing corrective actions to resolve existing challenges and leverage growth opportunities.
Maintaining vault cash, safe deposit boxes, instant issue debit cards, and other inventories to ensure availability for member transactions.
Remaining knowledgeable of all Credit Union products and services to clearly explain features and benefits to members.
Developing and maintaining a network within the community to enhance the Credit Union’s visibility and build a strong referral source for new potential members.
Maintaining a cash drawer as needed, receiving payments, and processing withdrawals accurately.
Issuing share certificates, gift cards, credit card cash advances and money orders.
Placing Stop Payments, and check holds on transactions as needed. Making appropriate referrals with Senior Management based on the level of exposure for the Credit Union.
Opening new member accounts efficiently and accurately verifying that all procedures and policies are followed for proper identification and account documentation.
Preparing new and closed member account reports monthly, reviewing membership cards for required documentation and filing.
Processing levies and garnishments as applicable.
Contacting members to collect outstanding account balances, safe deposit box fees and other items payable to the Credit Union.
Building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Maintaining confidentiality of all member and Credit Union information both in the office and outside the Credit Union.
Conducting team meetings in accordance with overall strategy.
