River Valley Family Health Centers is looking for a Medication Refill Specialist to join our clinic in Delta. The Medical Assistant position is a full-time position; 40 hours per week. We are a growing, exciting place to work, serving our community in a variety of ways. Come join our team!
A day in the life of a Medication Refill Specialist includes:
- Being the point of contact for patients regarding their prescription medication refill needs. Refilling prescriptions through provider, patient, or pharmacy requests.
- Obtaining prior authorization of medications from the patient’s insurance company.
- Coordination of pharmaceutical representatives for drug samples, patient assistance, and learning opportunities.
- Encouraging and promoting River Valley services related to medications, such as the pharmacy and the 340B program.
- Providing health related education and delivery of compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and their families, including how to take medications correctly, how to get refills, and coordination of follow-up appointments for refills.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved educational program for Licensed Practical Nurses, Medical Assistant, or pharmacy technician program preferred
- Active LPN or Pharmacy Technician certification is preferred, or the ability to obtain a Provisional Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification prior to hire with a full and active certification within 18 months of hire
- At least one year of experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting desired
- BLS certification
- Ability to travel between clinics as needed.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with team members, patients, families, and others.
- Ability to utilize a computer for time keeping, documenting electronic medical records, and to complete follow-up tasks.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Bilingual candidates are preferred.
This position requires long periods of standing and walking, sitting at a computer, the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 pounds, etc. Employees are exposed to blood, body fluids, and other occupational hazards, and are required to complete mandatory vaccines, such as Tdap, Hep A, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, and the yearly flu vaccine.
