SCHOOL AGE ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: School Age Assistant
Locations: Lyter, Loyalsock Valley & Ward Elementary Schools
POSITION SUMMARY:

Our Classroom Assistants or Assistant Teachers are an important part of the YMCA childcare family. Classroom Assistants aid Lead Teachers in implementing lesson plans and activities that provide our children with quality and age appropriate experiences. QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Diploma or General Education Certificate and two (2) years work experience related to the care and development of children.
2. Compliance with Act 33, to include documentation of Child Abuse History (Form CY-113) and Criminal History (Form SP4-164) and FBI fingerprinting.
3. Biannual physical examination and initial TB (Mantoux) Test and freedom from any infectious or communicable disease.
4. Ability to work with and relate well to young children and coworkers.
5. At least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage children in activities before and after school, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
- Implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote literacy and math skills.
- Manage classroom behavior and foster positive interactions among students.
- Communicate effectively with parents and staff regarding children's progress and needs.
- Maintain CPR certification and adhere to safety protocols at all times.
- Support children with special needs, utilizing relevant strategies for their development.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour
