The Opportunity:
The Recovery Coach at the Ray of Light Recovery Café in Haverhill will be a person who is grounded in peer-assisted recovery. This is a non-clinical, strength-based peer to peer support service in which the invaluable expertise that is gained from lived experience is drawn upon to inspire peers toward sustainable recovery. As a Recovery Coach you will promote positive self-identity by drawing on the strengths and resilience of your recoverees. A Recovery Coach serves as a personal guide and mentor to help individuals identify and navigate their individualized recovery journey and to live a self-directed life.
Job Details:
Reports to: Program Director of Ray of Light Recovery Café
Recovery Coach position is a 40 hour a week position in Haverhill, MA with excellent benefits and pay. Location may vary in the event of a call out at a different program
The work hours and days will be determined at hire and be flexible to meet the employee and the program needs.
Job Responsibilities:
· Support recoverees in their development of a Recovery Action Plan
· Assist and support recoverees in identifying, accomplishing, and celebrating their recovery goals
· Assist recoverees in identifying community/recovery resources that support their recovery goals
· Support recoverees in making positive life changes and strive toward a self-directed life
· Assist recoverees in creating personally meaningful links to treatment, peer recover support services, and mutual aid and support them in their effort to cultivate recovery capital
· Serve as an advocate and assist recoverees in learning self-advocacy skills
· Provide emotional and social support, using coaching and mentoring techniques to uplift recoveree’s awareness and understanding that he or she possesses the inherent ability (and recovery capital) to support long term, sustainable recovery
· Connect recoverees to the recovery community
· Collaborate with community partners and providers to best serve recoverees
· Attend trainings and supervision as required by Supervisor
Competencies:
· Able to work and problem solve independently.
· Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
· Demonstrates an ability to actively listen and respond to questions and concerns of staff, members, and other stakeholders.
· Practices discretion in all aspects of the job.
· Maintains a current knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of recovery coaching.
· Able to manage constant change at a moment’s notice
· Self-starter able to self-direct and manage their assigned schedule and budget their time appropriate.
· Possesses a desire to learn and grow within the organization.
· Familiarity with local support services, resources, and recovery community a plus.
Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear.
Qualifications:
· Has personal lived experience in recovery
· Possesses a High school diploma or equivalent
· Communicates clearly
· Demonstrates cultural competency
· Has completed (or is willing to complete) Recovery Coach Academy and work toward Recovery Coach Certification (CARC)
· Possess a thorough understanding of the Recovery Coach Model and be able to apply this knowledge in different settings.
· Understands and supports multiple pathways of recovery.
· Possesses the ability to work positively with co-workers and ROLRC members.
· Possesses proficient computer and social media skills.
