Bartender, Riverboats at the Gateway Arch ($15.00/hr $500 Hiring Incentive)
Enjoy bartending? What if you had the chance to tend bar on the Riverboats at the Gateway Arch as they navigate up and down the Mississippi River? The Riverboats at the Gateway Arch are looking to employ energetic and guest-oriented bartenders to serve during our dinner, specialty, and private cruises, as well as at our dockside events. Expectations:
- Always have a positive, friendly, and approachable demeanor while having fun!
- Continually exceed guests’ expectations by always having a guest first attitude.
- Be prompt and accountable when you are scheduled to work.
- Follow the dress code by wearing your uniform.
- Maintain an alert, professional appearance even when not actively engaged in guest transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages ensuring proper ingredients and garnishes, always checking identification to verify legal drinking age.
- Ensure bar remains fully stocked throughout shift.
- Maintain a clean work space, including glasses, utensils, and bar equipment.
- Assist with setting up and breaking down the bar area for events
- Maintain knowledge of pricing, menu items, and general cruise information.
- Work closely with other team members to ensure smooth operations during cruises and private events.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including those related to alcohol service.
- Monitor and work to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals at all Points of Sale.
- Engage incoming and departing guests in a warm, genuine and friendly manner, answer guest inquiry line, provide directions, and help maintain cleanliness and organization of dock when working as a greeter.
- Act as runner on dinner and specialty cruises when necessary.
- Perform side work duties such as setting up dining area on boat, refilling condiments, rolling silverware, cleaning dock, replenishing concessions, and cleaning menus.
- Assist with stocking and restocking supplies as necessary in the gift shop, dry storage, coolers, etc.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
- Must pass alcohol and drug screening.
- Must pass basic background check.
- Must pass math proficiency questionnaire (located in employee application).
- Must have some previous bartending experience.
- Willing to work on a moving vessel in water and outdoors (hot and cold environments).
Skills & Abilities:
- Exceptional guest service skills
- Proper cash handling and credit card skills
- Ability to learn a cash register
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to learn and follow rules and procedures related to order taking
- Ability to thoroughly learn available beverages, cocktails, brands, and prices
- Able to carry/lift up to 50lbs
- Able to work in a standing position for 3 continuously and up to 9 hours per day
- Ability to continuously carry trays/plates up and down stairs
- Able to bend and stoop
$500 Hiring Incentive
- 1st payment - $150 following successful completion of 30 days of employment
- 2nd payment - $150 following successful completion of 90 days of employment
- 3rd payment - $200 following successful completion of 150 days of employment
*Employees must work at least 15.5 hours per week to be eligible.

Typical Summer Season (Memorial Day to Labor Day) Hours of Operation are 7 a.m. to 1 a.m.
Typical Winter Season (Labor Day to Memorial Day) Hours of Operation are 7 a.m. to 1 a.m.
Closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day
