Job Title: IT Support Specialist
Job Overview: We are looking for a reliable and proactive IT Support Specialist to provide technical support to staff, students, and faculty. This role will involve managing and maintaining the school's IT infrastructure, ensuring the smooth functioning of hardware, software, and network systems, and assisting with troubleshooting any technical issues. The IT Support Specialist will help create a supportive technology environment for learning and administrative purposes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day IT support to students, teachers, and staff, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, laptops, tablets, printers, and other classroom technology.
- Assist in maintaining and updating school-wide software applications, operating systems, and other educational technologies.
- Ensure that all classroom equipment (interactive whiteboards, projectors, etc.) is functional and well-maintained.
- Help maintain the school's network infrastructure, including ensuring network connectivity and supporting Wi-Fi issues.
- Set up and configure new IT equipment for staff and students, including desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices.
- Support the administration of user accounts, access permissions, and passwords for students and staff.
- Monitor and maintain the school's data security systems, ensuring that student and staff information is secure.
- Assist with training teachers and staff on using new educational technology and software tools.
- Perform regular backups of school data and ensure the reliability of the school’s digital storage solutions.
- Help troubleshoot issues with online learning platforms or school website access.
- Maintain an inventory of IT hardware and software, tracking all assets and ensuring proper documentation.
- Assist with implementing and enforcing IT policies, including acceptable use policies, for staff and students.
- Collaborate with other IT team members or external vendors to resolve more complex issues.
- Provide technical support during school events, virtual learning sessions, and after-school programs as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of computer systems, hardware, and software.
- Experience with Windows and Mac operating systems, as well as school-specific applications.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with students, teachers, and staff.
- Patience and a customer service-oriented approach when assisting others with technology.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve common technical issues.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and stay up-to-date with educational tech trends.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- A good understanding of classroom technology tools (e.g., interactive whiteboards, projectors).
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a school or educational environment.
- Basic knowledge of networking (Wi-Fi, LAN, etc.).
- Experience with online learning platforms (Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
- IT-related certifications (such as CompTIA A , Network or similar).
- Familiarity with educational technology tools and software (e.g., smartboards, learning management systems).
Work Environment:
- Full-time position during school hours, with occasional after-hours support as needed.
