We are seeking a dedicated Server to join our team. As a Server, you will play a crucial role in providing excellent customer service and ensuring an enjoyable dining experience for our customers.
Job brief
Riverhouse Bakery and Bistro is looking for a skilled Server to take orders and deliver food and beverages to our customers. This position is part-time every Saturday and Sunday with possible extra shifts, covering open shifts, catering and special events. We are looking for someone with the patience, personality, and perseverance to thrive in this role - your role will improve the dining experience for customers. You must have a current Washington Food Woker Card.
Responsibilities include greeting and serving customers, providing detailed information on menus, multi-tasking various front-of-the-house duties, and collecting the bill. If you can perform well in fast-paced environments, we would like to meet you. To be a successful Server, you should be polite with our customers and make sure their experience is positive. You should also be a team player and be able to effectively communicate with our kitchen staff to make sure orders are accurate and delivered promptly.
Schedule
This is a part-time position every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM with possible extra shifts assisting with covering open shifts, catering, and special events.
Responsibilities
- Greet and/or escort customers to their tables
- Present menu and provide detailed information when asked (e.g. about portions, ingredients or potential food allergies)
- Inform customers about the day’s specials
- Offer menu recommendations upon request
- Up-sell additional products when appropriate
- Take accurate food and drinks orders, using our point-of-sale ordering software
- When in question, check customers’ IDs to ensure they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages
- Communicate order details to the Kitchen Staff
- Serve food and drink orders
- Check dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness and presentation and report any problems
- Clearing tables quickly, cleaning and setting tables for our next guests
- Meet with restaurant staff to review daily specials, changes on the menu and service specifications for the day
- Follow all relevant health department regulations
- Provide excellent customer service to guests and fellow staff members
Requirements and skills
- Proven work experience as a Server
- Hands-on experience with cash register and point-of-sale ordering information system
- Basic math skills
- Attentiveness and patience for customers
- Excellent presentation skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
- Active listening and effective communication skills
- Team spirit
- Flexibility to work in shifts
- A current Washington State Food Workers Card is required
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.50 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
