Job Summary And Qualifications
The Director of Infection Control is responsible for coordinating the multiple facets of the Infection Control program. This position involves professional responsibilities in the following areas: program development, case finding, surveillance, reporting, analysis and interpretation, inspection, infection control measures, education, consultation, evaluation, and recommendation.

Job Summary And Qualifications
The Director of Infection Control is responsible for coordinating the multiple facets of the Infection Control program. This position involves professional responsibilities in the following areas: program development, case finding, surveillance, reporting, analysis and interpretation, inspection, infection control measures, education, consultation, evaluation, and recommendation.
- You will provide expertise, knowledge of and familiarity with JCAHO infection control accreditation standards, Title 22, OSHA, and other county/state regulations related to infection control and demonstrate current knowledge of and skill in surveillance methodology and data collection, statistical analysis, and report formatting.
- You will oversee infection control practices throughout the facility and maintain and update, as necessary, the hospital’s Infection Control plan, and Infection Control policies and procedures, and make recommendations for changes and implements those changes to keep the Infection Control program/policies current.
- You will perform walking environmental rounds in all hospital departments to encourage and participate in verbal communication concerning patient information regarding possible infections and/or communicable diseases, make environmental observations for Infection Control compliance, and increase visibility/availability to staff members.
- You will plan, implement, and evaluate an effective educational program in Infection Control to all hospital staff on effective measures to reduce/prevent nosocomial infection, plan and implement educational programs relevant to new regulations as needed for all hospital staff, provide educational information in response to special needs of the hospital and/or specific departments, and coordinate with the Education Department as needed.
- You will round on the patients at high-risk for hospital associated infections and collaborate with Infectious Disease physicians on patient cases.
- Valid California RN license preferred
- Certification in Infection Control (required within 2 years of hire, need to demonstrate competencies at the time of hire)
- Bachelors Degree in nursing or related field required
- Experience in infection prevention or control environment required
- Five years' experience in acute hospital care preferred
- Prior work in epidemiology, microbiology, research or education preferred
