What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weekend Substance Abuse Counselor position at Riverside County Latino Commission?
Fully credentialed SUD/AOD Counselor needed to counsel and manage caseload of clients in an adolescent recovery program. Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor, the Counselor functions as a member of an adolescent drug and alcohol recovery program. The Counselor will provide substance abuse treatment and recovery services to youths and their families in the Coachella Valley. Counselor will be responsible for maintaining our consumers engage with positive activities. Counselor will also be responsible of transporting clients to NA meetings.
Knowledge of substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.
Ability to work effectively as part of a treatment team and communicate effectively with staff, clients, family members and the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities May Include:
Conduct initial intake screening and assessment evaluations with teens (and/or their family) who seek alcohol and drug treatment.
Collect, complete, and file the necessary documentation needed for admission.
Provide initial orientation and orient individual to the program.
Assure that all services are appropriately documented.
May provide one-on-one and/or group counseling and assist clients in the development of their relapse prevention plan.
Provide educational and supportive services to teens and their families.
Provide appropriate referrals and resources and services.
Provide for the overall safety of the clients in the program by monitoring behavioral and self-reports that indicate a medical or psychiatric concern and notifying appropriate personnel.
Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team, participate in program planning, treatment and goal development, discharge planning, and clinical meetings.
Maintain and keep all documentation in compliance with the applicable standards and requirements.
Maintain a milieu that is focused on the individual's recovery.
Protect the rights of the individuals being served and maintain compliance with HIPAA.
Requirements:
Must have a California Substance Abuse Credential (CCAPP or CADDE)
Must pass background check
Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
