What are the responsibilities and job description for the Therapeutic Community Counselor/Cognitive Counselor position at Riverside Regional Jail?
The Riverside Regional Jail is actively seeking a full time TC Counselor/Cognitive Counselor to provide in-house services to inmates. Responsibilities include: planning, developing, and implementing programs and activities appropriate for the assigned population. Ensures treatment techniques and activities utilized are appropriate and consistent with contemporary standards. Ensures comprehensive services are available to inmates which meet a range of treatment needs. Completes necessary assessments on program participants. Schedules daily activities of the substance abuse program, including group and individual counseling also provides support and behavioral groups as needed for general population inmates. Able to provide one-on-one counseling relating to the concepts. Have some knowledge of the 12-step model of Addiction. Able to develop a treatment plan.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College or University with course work in the human service field; prefer advanced course work in substance abuse treatment or current education/training in substance abuse treatment or willing to work towards obtainment of CSAC (Virginia Certified Substance Abuse Certification). Must be eligible for Virginia Certified Substance Abuse Certification (CSAC). Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to interact with individuals from different educational and cultural backgrounds.
Full-Time: $54,266 – $82,100
