Position Overview

 

Riverside Research is an independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation dedicated to research and development in the national interest.  With revenues of $100M , and a staff of more than 500, Riverside Research provides high-end technical services, research and development, and prototype solutions to some of the country’s most challenging technical problems. Riverside also supports advanced technical education and collaborates widely with university researchers.

Since 1967, when the company was formed from a respected research laboratory at Columbia University, Riverside Research has played a key role in the advancement of radar programs, pioneered breakthroughs in the fields of coherent optics and laser systems and conducted seminal research in cancer detection and treatment. Riverside Research’s open innovation R&D model encourages both internal and external collaboration to accelerate innovation, advance science, and expand market opportunities. In 2015 Riverside Research expanded its facility in Dayton, Ohio facility to add a 30,000 square-foot Open Innovation Center (OIC). The OIC sets the standard for collaborative innovation and is dedicated to promoting research across the company. Riverside Research has additional research facilities in Boston, MA; New York City, NY; Centreville, VA and Champaign, IL.

Responsibilities

Riverside Research is seeking a senior dynamic, strategic, operational, and growth focused Director to lead the Airborne Reconnaissance Directorate Group in Beavercreek, OH.  The Director will lead a team of 6 Managers, and 107 employees. This operational and growth-oriented individual will lead a stable and passionate team providing engineering, program management, and logistics support focused on serving the national interest. The Director will supervise and coordinate the work of a diverse team of professionals working in the Dayton, OH office and in multiple contractor and customer locations. 

Responsibilities of the Director include but are not limited to: 

• Provide project management support for customer funded research and development efforts and help to define and implement a long-term strategy and vision for the group
• Supervise managers and be ultimately responsible for innovative solutions for our customers
• Assist in developing financial strategy, develop revenue projections, and oversee overhead/travel budgets for the group
• Broaden our impact within the Air Force Lifecycle Management Center and other government organizations. This includes developing relationships with the staff at these organizations, clearly communicating Riverside Research’s unique technical value proposition, and directing the preparation of proposals, white papers, demos, and presentations
• Collaborate with the other Groups to advance new growth opportunities for Riverside Research

Qualifications

 

• Active TS clearance
• A bachelor’s degree or above
• Strong technical acumen
• A minimum of 15 years’ experience in DoD program management within the last 10 years
• Direct experience with AFLCM or similar US Government / DoD agency. Experience with multiple agencies is highly desirable
• Experience in managing diverse teams/programs in multiple locations (at least 5 years)
• Collaborative leader with the highest integrity and moral compass
• An established professional reputation for excellence in customer support and program execution, with sound business judgment, well-developed management skills, and the personal ambition to play a major role in the growth and success of a high-end government services company with a strong heritage for high quality and responsive service to its clients.
