SUMMARY:
Applicant must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Office experience required, preferably in mental health or social service setting, knowledge of NextGen system preferred. Typing speed of 30 wpm preferred. Word processing skills, good grammar, spelling, and reading skills required. Must have or willing to obtain current CPR Certification that meets the guidelines of the American Heart Association or Red Cross prior to orientation. The BHS Clerk carries out front desk and administrative tasks in relation to the day-to-day management of the BHS Department; greets patients; schedules patients’ appointments, answers all patient questions; answers all incoming calls in a timely manner and directs the caller to the appropriate destination while providing clear and professional communication; be willing to work closely with patients, providers, and other staff of the health care team. Must be professional, detail-oriented, have exceptional in-person and phone skills, and be able to handle a very fast-paced environment. Must be computer literate and possess good communication and written skills, confidentiality a must. Must be able to work with the Indian community, and be sensitive to the Indian Culture and its needs.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet and check-in Behavioral Health Services and Chemical Dependency Services patients.
- Scheduling Mental Health and Chemical Dependency patient appointments.
- Providing phone coverage and take phone messages for Behavioral Health Services department
s. Communicate messages in a confidential and appropriate manner. - Collect insurance information.
- Prepare Mental Health and Chemical Dependency daily paperwork, APC’s, superbills, and logs.
- Type letters, all reports, departmental minutes and any necessary materials for the efficient implementation of departmental services.
- Maintain all files of correspondence, reports, data, educational material, and personnel information as required by the Department.
- This position may require working on the weekends.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Office experience required, preferably in mental health or social service setting, knowledge of NextGen system preferred. Typing speed of 30 wpm preferred. Word processing skills, good grammar, spelling, and reading skills required.
Certification:
Must have current CPR certification that complies with the guidelines set by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Certification may also be obtained prior to orientation.
Knowledge of:
Must be literate in Microsoft Word.
Ability to:
Must be able to work with the Indian Community, and be sensitive to the Indian culture and its needs. Must be able to interrelate with all staff members. Must be able to maintain absolute confidentiality of job information.
Physical Demands:
Work requires walking, standing, reaching, bending, stooping, and sitting. Dexterity of hands with coordination of eye and hand movement. Ability to carry light objects.
