What are the responsibilities and job description for the TIDEWATCH Before/After School Care position at Riverview Charter School?
DESCRIPTION
The TIDEWATCH Program Assistants supervise and direct students, providing
homework assistance, fun learning activities that are curriculum driven and enrichment
activities such as sports, games, arts, music, crafts, drama and dance for students in the
TIDEWATCH Program.
TIDEWATCH Assistants will be sensitive and mature, provide leadership and stability to
the program and staff. Serve as a good role model to the students. Maintain student
confidentiality. Communicate effectively through spoken and written word.
DUTIES
● Prepare and gather materials and supplies prior to programs daily.
● Tutor students and provide homework assistance.
● Assist and supervise children during all classroom and playground activities.
● Build a positive relationship with each after-school participant. Actively engage
with children at all times with the goal of fostering the positive development of
each child and the group.
● Be able to work independently while maintaining the teamwork needed to allow
the consistency of program content and integrity.
● Assist children with meal/snack time and clean-up.
● Be responsible for the safety of the children enrolled.
● Clean-up site when children depart. Inspect and return supplies to the
appropriate place. Follow proper cleaning requirements and procedures.
● Ensure that site appearance, cleanliness and safe environment are appropriately
maintained.
● Build a positive relationship with each after-school participant. Actively engage
with children at all times with the goal of fostering the positive development of
each child and the group.
● Be able to work independently while maintaining the teamwork needed to allow
the consistency of program content and integrity.
● Interact professionally and appropriately with children, parents, and school staff.● Effectively manage the assigned group. Report observations and incidents (e.g.
discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.) to the TIDEWATCH
Director.
● Complete all other relevant programmatic duties assigned by TIDEWATCH
Director.

Minimum Qualifications Desired
Current CPR and First Aid Certification - TIDEWATCH Program will pay for (1)
certification, bi-annually, if you are not certified.
