Activities Assistant Job Responsibilities:
- Activity Planning and Coordination: Develop and organize a diverse calendar of activities including arts and crafts, games, exercise classes, and movie nights.
- Activity Facilitation: Lead and facilitate activities, including exercise classes and group projects and outings, ensuring all residents are encouraged to participate and have a positive experience.
- Social Engagement: Foster meaningful relationships with residents, encouraging social interaction and a sense of community.
- Documentation and Evaluation: Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve activity offerings.
- Supportive Role: Collaborate with other staff members, including caregivers and healthcare professionals, to ensure the well-being and safety of residents.
- Transportation: Provide transportation for residents to events and outings, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Customer Service: Address resident needs and concerns with professionalism and care, ensuring a high level of satisfaction.
Activities Assistant Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional education or training in recreational therapy, gerontology, or a related field is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- Previous experience working with older adults, preferably in a recreational or social activity setting.
- Prior experience with Alzheimer's and dementia care practices preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently when necessary.
- Ability to assist with transferring residents from chairs/beds to walkers/wheelchairs. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
