When you become a Nurse at Riverview Psychiatric Center, you’ll provide guidance and mentorship alongside your essential nursing role providing medical and psychiatric nursing care to our patients within our inpatient hospital setting. Our nurses perform general nursing activities on units, provide supervision over paraprofessional staff, assess emergency situations taking appropriate action, conduct individual and group counseling therapy, intervene therapeutically when patients exhibit signs of behavioral escalation, and report on patients' condition recommending changes to their treatment programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience required. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and a current State of Maine RN license.
Requirements: One (1) shift every thirty (30) days. Candidates who can commit to one (1) shift per week will be given higher consideration. Candidates must be able to attend our three (3) day Per-diem orientation typically scheduled for the second full week of each month Monday – Wednesday, 8 a.m.- 4 p.m.

The Riverview Psychiatric Center, in collaboration with the community, is a center for best practice, treatment, education and research, for individuals with serious, persistent mental illness, and co-occurring substance use disorders. We have a burgeoning collaboration with national and international experts in psychiatry, support a growing and wide variety of teaching and training programs, and have a collegial, supportive medical staff and hospital administration.
