Dispatch I (Mon-Fri 10am-6pm)

On Time Trucking, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Dispatcher to join our operations team. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient and timely coordination of LTL shipments, supporting drivers, and maintaining strong communication with internal teams and customers. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of local routes, particularly in Long Island and the five boroughs of NYC. The ability to optimize routes for efficiency and timely deliveries is a plus

• Schedule, coordinate, and dispatch LTL shipments in accordance with company standards and customer requirements.
• Communicate with drivers to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries.
• Monitor driver routes, making real-time adjustments as needed to address delays, traffic, or customer changes.
• Optimize and plan routes for deliveries within Long Island and the five boroughs of New York City (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, and Staten Island).
• Maintain accurate records of delivery and pickup times, mileage, and any incidents.
• Serve as a point of contact for customers, providing updates and resolving any issues related to dispatch and delivery.
• Collaborate with the warehouse and dock personnel to ensure freight is loaded and unloaded efficiently.
• Use dispatch software and systems (e.g., TMS, ELDs) to track and manage shipments.
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
• Support senior dispatchers and other operations personnel as needed.
• Leverage knowledge of local streets, highways, and traffic patterns in Long Island and the five boroughs to ensure timely deliveries, avoiding delays and detours.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in logistics or transportation is a plus.
• Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills are required.
• In-depth knowledge of Long Island and the five boroughs of NYC is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of LTL transportation and DOT regulations preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel is required; dispatch management systems experience is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
