What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plastics Process Technician 2nd Shift position at RL Hudson?
Responsible for injection molding operation and improvements, following procedural standards to meet IATF requirements. Leading and mentoring mold setters and maintaining processes on IMM’s and secondary equipment. This position engages in activities that meet the highest standards in process optimization, control and product quality. This is a high visibility position that reflects on the entire Company.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Champion mold validation with process engineer from check-in, through release to production. Perform and document mold set-ups, process optimizations, follow FOT through MRB process, PPAP runs and production start-ups which meet RLH quality system standards.
2. Monitor, correct and document process deviations. Support production in returning alternate process validations to regular error proofing methods. Support secondary operation equipment and error proofing as well as robots and automation.
3. Lead continuous improvement efforts on the following standards: IATF, Operational Efficiency, Productivity, Machine Utilization, SMED, Safety, Mold Setter 5S and work area cleanliness.
4. Oversee best practices in material handling, change-overs and inventory movements.
5. Oversee mold setter maintenance of all injection molding and support equipment.
6. Follow all equipment safety procedures, using Lock-Out / Tag Out procedures as necessary. Address safety and environmental concerns to meet OSHA and EPA regulations.
7. Provide support and training to operators, material handlers and set-ups on processes and production equipment operation and safety.
8. Perform other duties as necessary or required.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Injection molding machine start-up, scientific molding principles, troubleshooting and mold changes.
· Fanuc 6 axis and cartesian robot operation.
· Overhead crane operation and safety.
· Operator station and fixture change-overs.
· Able to read and comprehend work instructions, part prints, control charts, maintenance logs, maintenance manuals and other operational literature.
· Maintenance of primary, auxiliary and secondary equipment.
· Interpersonal and communication skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
· Organizational skills.
· Extensive knowledge of tools and equipment.
· Fork truck, hand truck, electric pallet jack operation.
· High School Diploma
· Scientific Molding Training such as Paulson or RJG.
· 5 years setting molds and processing in injection molding.
