Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. In this role, you will assist optometrists in providing high-quality patient care, performing various clinical tasks, and ensuring the smooth operation of the optometry practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology and physiology, along with excellent interpersonal skills to interact with patients effectively.
Duties
- Conduct preliminary eye exams and gather patient history.
- Assist in the fitting and adjustment of eyewear.
- Perform diagnostic tests and procedures, including visual field testing and retinal imaging.
- Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the examination rooms and equipment.
- Provide patient education on eye health, contact lens care, and eyewear options.
- Support retail sales by helping patients choose appropriate eyewear based on their needs.
- Collaborate with optometrists to ensure optimal patient care during examinations.
Experience
- Knowledge of physiology and medical terminology is essential for understanding patient needs and assisting in examinations.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment during procedures.
- Experience with electronic medical records systems such as Epic is preferred.
- Previous experience in pediatrics or working with children is a plus.
- Strong skills in patient care, ensuring comfort and understanding throughout the examination process.
- Background in optical sales or retail experience is advantageous for assisting patients effectively.
