Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometrist to join our team. The Optometrist will also be responsible for maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough eye examinations to assess vision and diagnose ocular conditions.
- Prescribe corrective lenses and provide recommendations for vision therapy as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Educate patients on proper eye care, including the use of contact lenses and glasses.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Assist in the management of optical sales, providing excellent customer service to enhance patient satisfaction.
- Stay current with advancements in optometry practices and technology.
- Perform vital sign checks as part of patient assessments when necessary.
Requirements
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid state optometry license to practice.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to optometry and ophthalmology.
- Familiarity with medical coding practices is a plus.
- Experience in pediatrics is desirable but not mandatory.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages.
- Proficiency in managing medical records and understanding HIPAA regulations.
- Sales experience within an optical setting is advantageous but not required.
