Responsibilities
- Understand the product roadmap against electrical hardware design needs
- Understand/specify FPGA based test platforms to enable silicon validation functionality
- Manage product development cycle for electrical hardware deliverables for incoming ASIC samples
- Collaborate with ASIC designers, pre-silicon verification engineers, software developers, and silicon validation engineers in preparation for first silicon
- Define block diagrams, pseudo code, and functional testing requirements
- Leverage previous design solutions, off-the-shelf parts, BOMs, and vendor/manufacturer expertise for new designs/platforms
- Design/simulate circuits using schematic capture tools and work with PCB layout designers to layout circuit boards OR work with test platform vendors to specify FPGA chip sets and emulation platforms
- Lead design reviews for assigned sub-systems
- Bring up and troubleshoot boards and platforms for lab testing
- Iterate designs as allowed for in project budget and schedule
- Work with Test Engineers and Technicians to define and execute test plans for needed validation and characterization coverage
- Document issues and propose workarounds to team including senior management
- Occasionally work 40 hours in a week if approved
- Perform other duties as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field; Preferred Master’s degree
- Eligible to work in the US without RLA sponsorship for employment visa status
- 10 years of experience in an electrical HW design engineer role
- Minimum 10 years of experience with coding and FPGA debugging
- Minimum 5 years of experience with FPGA programming with VERILOG
- Minimum 3 years of experience with microprocessor systems embedded
- Experience with Synopsis HAPS
- Experience designing and/or specifying embedded systems
- Experience with debugging software and firmware applications in C and assembly
- Experience using circuit schematic capture, simulation and PCB layout tools such as Cadence Allegro, Mentor Graphics, Altium, etc.
- Experience optimizing circuit BOMs for cost and scale
- Experience using benchtop test equipment such as oscilloscope, DMM, power supply, function generator, logic/network analyzer, thermal camera, etc.
- Experience developing, modifying, and running test scripts via PowerShell, Python, etc.
- Experience with statistical process control (SCS) including analysis using tools such as Excel, Minitab, JMP, R, etc.
- Experience using hand tools (soldering iron) to hack/blue wire breadboard circuits and components on PCBs
