Construction Laborer Position Overview
This role entails performing labor on bridge and grading construction, encompassing site preparation, demolition, material handling, assisting skilled tradespeople, and other support tasks. The workweek typically spans 40-50 hours, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain regular attendance at scheduled work hours
- Foster a harmonious working relationship with colleagues
- Receive general instructions and perform assigned tasks
- Care for and utilize tools, equipment, and materials efficiently
- Participate in excavation and leveling activities using shovels, picks, tampers, or jackhammers
- Assist in aligning, placing, and tying reinforcing steel
- Vibrate concrete within forms to ensure proper setting
- Install and remove formwork utilizing hand tools
- Transport lumber, reinforcing steel, and other materials as needed
- Perform additional duties assigned by the supervisor
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
- Ensure normal vision and hearing capabilities (with correction)
- Effectively navigate work environments at heights
- Walk on uneven terrain, stand, climb, bend, kneel, reach, lift up to 75 pounds regularly, and balance
