Job Title: Account Manager - Convention Center Events and Staffing
Employment Status: Regular Full-Time (Exempt) with On-Call Duties
Reports To: Director of Central Event Operations
Salary Range: Starting at $45,000 to include PTO, Health/Dental benefits & opportunities for advancement
Location: Mechanicsville, Virginia
Position Summary
RMC Events is actively searching for a dynamic and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Account Manager - Convention Center Events and Staffing. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, a comprehensive understanding of convention center operations, and a track record of successfully managing event staffing services. This key position is instrumental in fostering positive client relationships, exploring new business opportunities, and upholding the highest standards of service delivery within the convention center setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring seamless event planning and execution while contributing to the overall success of our organization in the industry.
RMC Events operates in several regional markets throughout Virginia including Richmond, Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, and Tidewater.
Essential Position Functions and Key Duties
- Client Relations:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for convention center client(s).
- Develop and maintain positive, long-term client relationships, actively seeking new business opportunities.
- Event Planning and Execution:
- Meticulously plan all aspects of personnel management within the convention center and/or assigned facilities.
- Coordinate staffing, mapping, deployment, timelines, briefing documents, and operational needs.
- Act as the lead representative on-site during convention center events, ensuring seamless service delivery.
- Communication:
- Provide clear and timely communication to part-time staff regarding event details.
- Collaborate with clients, board members, donors, VIPs, guests, peers, and staff in a 360-degree manner.
- Support Functions:
- Collaborate with other departments, including HR & Recruiting and Operations & Logistics.
- Participate in professional development & organizational advancement activities as requested.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience:
- Preferred combination of education/industry experience with a focus on convention center operations.
- Proven ability to successfully manage personnel, preferably within the convention/large event industry.
- Availability and Adaptability:
- Ability to work irregular hours specific to convention center events, including nights/weekends/holidays.
- Effective navigation throughout convention center facilities and adaptation to the unique demands of large-scale events.
- Skills:
- Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with a deep understanding of the convention center environment.
- Experience in handling staffing and service challenges unique to convention centers.
- Legal Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the U.S.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors and often irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and/or holidays is required. This includes all-weather environments.
- Strong computer skills are required.
- Must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history (VA State Police & FBI fingerprints), personal and professional references, and employment and education verifications.
- Must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
- Location:
- Residence within the market or willingness to relocate to the market is required.
Physical Requirements
- Capable of standing for long periods and lifting items weighing up to 20 pounds, as needed.
- Repetitive movements are required.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb & descend stairs, bend, squat, push, and pull frequently.
- Work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions as well as occasionally outdoors in weather conditions,
including varying temperatures and weather conditions. - Ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
