SUMMARY
The Procurement Coordinator – Permian Basin is responsible for strategic sourcing, purchasing, contract negotiations, and supplier management to support operational needs in the Permian Basin region. This role ensures cost-effective procurement of equipment, materials, and services while maintaining supplier relationships, compliance with company policies, and alignment with operational goals. The ideal candidate has a strong background in supply chain management, vendor negotiations, and procurement best practices within the oil and gas industry or a related field.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Procurement Strategy & Sourcing
- Develop and execute strategic procurement plans to meet operational demands in the Permian Basin.
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability.
- Manage bidding and supplier selection processes to ensure competitive pricing and contract terms.
Supplier & Vendor Management - Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain.
- Monitor supplier performance, ensuring on-time delivery, compliance, and quality standards.
- Negotiate contract terms, pricing structures, and service level agreements (SLAs).
Cost Control & Budget Management - Analyze spending trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Implement procurement cost controls and efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with finance and operations teams to align purchasing with budgetary requirements.
Compliance & Risk Management - Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.
- Manage contract risks, supplier liabilities, and legal compliance issues.
- Work with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) teams to ensure safety compliance in procurement processes.
Inventory & Logistics Coordination - Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to optimize inventory levels and material distribution.
- Implement just-in-time (JIT) procurement strategies to minimize waste and improve efficiency.
- Oversee purchase order processing, tracking, and supplier delivery schedules.
Team Collaboration - Collaborate with operations, project managers, and field teams to align procurement strategies with business needs.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in procurement and supply chain management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Master’s degree or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), or APICS certification is a plus.
Experience - Minimum of 3 years of procurement experience, preferably in the oil and gas, energy, or industrial sector.
- Proven track record in supplier negotiations, contract management, and cost reduction initiatives.
Technical Skills - Strong knowledge of procurement software (SAP, Oracle, Ariba, or equivalent).
- Experience with inventory management systems and ERP platforms.
- Understanding of market trends, supply chain risks, and vendor sourcing strategies.
- Familiarity with logistics coordination and transportation management.
Soft Skills - Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data, optimize procurement strategies, and drive cost efficiencies.
- Strong leadership and team collaboration capabilities.
