Direct Support Professional

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. This role is essential in providing support and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring they lead fulfilling lives while maintaining their dignity and independence. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving, home care, or assisted living environments, and possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those they serve.

Duties

• Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of clients.
• Implement individualized care plans tailored to each person's needs and preferences.
• Support clients in participating in community activities and social events.
• Monitor and document clients' progress, behaviors, and any changes in their condition.
• Assist with mobility needs, including lifting or transferring clients as necessary.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses and hospice care providers, to ensure comprehensive care.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for clients, adhering to all health and safety regulations.

Requirements

• Previous experience in caregiving, home care, or assisted living is preferred.
• Knowledge of working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus.
• Ability to lift and assist clients as needed; physical stamina is essential for this role.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
• A compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to help others.
• Basic cooking skills are beneficial for meal preparation tasks.
• Familiarity with health care practices is an advantage but not required.
• Must be able to pass background checks as required by state regulations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $15.04 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
