What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survey Instrument Technician - Construction position at Road Commission for Oakland County?
Duties
- Operates the various survey instruments and directs the activities of the survey crew in the absence of the survey crew chief.
- Interprets construction plans and performs computations related to construction layout and staking.
- Research completed project plans, legal descriptions and maintains project records.
- Performs manual labor, such as cutting brush for lines, carrying stakes, rebar, other heavy items, and stacking rods.
- Maintains equipment and vehicles used by surveying crew.
- Possess a fundamental understanding of uniform traffic control devices and procedures for short-term road closures and/or lane reductions.
- Duties are normally completed utilizing computer software programs.
- Must perform duties in a safe, professional, and courteous manner to promote a positive image of the Road Commission for Oakland County.
- Regular and predictable onsite job attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Requires a daily schedule that supports RCOC hours of operation.
Special Experience/Education
- A high school diploma or equivalent with knowledge in math sufficient to perform described duties.
- A minimum of twelve (12) months of survey experience related to duties described above is required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Michigan Driver’s License is required.
