Description
Truvista Surgical Center is looking for an Instrument Technician to work in their Troy location.
Under the supervision of the Charge Tech., ensures proper care and maintenance for all surgical instrumentation, decontamination processes, equipment usage and sterilization processes.
Essential Job Functions
Demonstrates proper decontamination, cleaning, wrapping and sterilization of surgical instruments.
Demonstrates the proper use of sterilization equipment, spore testing and maintain sterilization logs.
Maintain the inventory of instrumentation, supplies, and equipment necessary for the smooth functioning of the instrument room.
Inspect all instruments, surgical devices, and materials to verify integrity and sterility.
Order supplies weekly and as needed.
Audit and modify inventory as needed.
Maintain all instrument trays assuring the trays are complete, stocked and in working order.
Assume responsibility in overseeing repair, sharpening of instruments and lubrication.
Assist in the transfer of patients in a safe manner when requested.
Other related duties
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience working in a healthcare setting
Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards.
Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own professional advancement.
Certification in appropriate professional field.
Is aware of clinical standards and performs in accordance with them.
