The Weight & Inspections (W&I) Coordinator inspects shipments for proper classification and weight per the Roadrunner rules tariff, pricing agreements, and the NMFC.
Critical Job Functions
- Inspect shipments for additional revenue opportunities.
- Identify shipments for dimensioned based inspections.
- Enter changes to shipments based on physical inspection or dimensioned inspections.
- Work with terminal management and sales by giving feedback on accounts.
- Train and educate terminal personnel on proper reweigh procedures.
- Respond to some customer disputes.
- Receives very general guidance with respect to overall objectives; operates within division or department policy guidelines using independent judgment in achieving assigned objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; or two to three years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Relies on written and verbal communication.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
- Preferred knowledge of AS/400, industry-based software, and Microsoft Windows.
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
- Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis with the ability to interpret historic statistical data to forecast future business levels.
- Proficient computer skills in using different word processing and spreadsheet programs, Internet usage and presentation type programs.
- Involves a high degree of responsibility for working with, safeguarding, and controlling highly restricted information, knowledge or important confidences and criterion related to research and development of customer data, future plans, policies, business prospects, finances, etc. the release of which could have a detrimental effect and impact on the company’s affairs or undermine its competitive position.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Demonstrates a high attention to detail.
- Must be able to display exceptional judgment ability in solving problems and dealing with a variety of personalities where only limited structure exists.
- Able to interpret and apply current procedures and policies and recommend changes, enhancement, or creation of new ones.
- Physical Demands:
- Moderate physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature.
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, reach/handle items, work with the fingers, and talk and hear others in conversations via the phone or in person.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, climb, or balance and lift objects up to 50 lbs.
- Work Environment:
- The noise level is moderate to high based on general conversation tones, ringing phones and laser printer operation.
- Splits work time between well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation and dock setting.
- Occasional work near moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Works mostly night/overnight shifts.
- The estimated compensation for this role is $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year.
