Roane General Hospital in Spencer, WV a 60 bed Critical Access Hospital with 35
SNF/ICF beds, 25 acute care beds, Level IV Trauma Emergency Department, three
Rural Health Clinics and a walk-in clinic is currently seeking applicants for a
Full-Time Chart Analyst in Medical Records/HIM Department.
SUMMARY
To review medical records for completion, accuracy, and conformance to State and Federal Regulations, JCAHO Standards, and Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Reviews inpatient, SDC, Skilled Nursing medical records for completion and accuracy in conformance to State and Federal Regulations, JCAHO Standards, and Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations.
Assembles all charts according to prescribed chart order.
Files all miscellaneous records.
Prepares birth certificates.
Prepares monthly birth and death register.
Attends chart audit committee meeting and performs chart audits as requested. Reviews daily patient census report for accuracy.
Participates in the Performance Improvement Process.
Performs miscellaneous clerical duties as required.
Works well with others in a team effort.
Demonstrates awareness of and compliance with hospital policies and procedures, assumes responsibility to learn new policies and procedures.
Assumes responsibility for professional and personal development, self learning needs are communicated to appropriate resources.
Maintains a safe environment for self and others.
Tactful and effective communication is maintained.
Work performance demonstrates competency of concepts and skills.
Assists other Medical Record Department personnel in the performance of assigned duties as may be necessary to meet unit workload when not engaged in in the performance of primary duties.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one year experience in medical record field preferred. Basic typing skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
