Job Summary:
Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport (ROA) is seeking a highly skilled Airport Operations and Maintenance Director to oversee daily operations and maintenance at the airport. This senior management position ensures compliance with federal regulations, including CFR Part 139, and supervises the Operations and Maintenance Departments. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in airport operations management within a regulated, complex airport environment. Supervisory experience, knowledge of federal regulations, and a proven ability to manage budgets and contractor relationships are essential. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Operations and Maintenance departments, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Oversee airfield inspections, maintenance, and emergency response procedures, including winter weather operations.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and other leadership team members to streamline decision-making and improve operations.
- Develop and execute strategic plans, goals, and policies for airport operations, airfield maintenance, and certification compliance.
- Manage budgets and approve expenditures for airport operations and maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with wildlife hazard management plans and other safety programs.
- Act as the primary point of contact for emergency response, safety, and security programs.
- Supervise contractors and assess risks, developing mitigation strategies for airport hazards.
- Oversee the development and execution of the Airport Capital Improvement Plan (ACIP).
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in public business administration, planning, engineering, or a closely related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of airport operations experience at a Part 139 certificated commercial service airport.
- Proven ability to manage airport operations, staff, and budgets effectively.
- Knowledge of federal regulations, including CFR Part 139 and FAA advisory circulars.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to maintain a valid driver's license and meet other security clearance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Industry certifications such as Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) or International Airport Professional (IAP).
- Experience with safety management systems and emergency management planning.
