Program Assistant Level 9 ($64,798 - $83,486) plus full-time benefits

8.5 hours per day, which includes eight hours of paid time and 30 minutes of unpaid lunchtime

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Facilities and Safety Technologies Program Assistant is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the district's integrated safety and security systems. This critical role requires a strong understanding of building systems, network technologies, and software applications, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and maintain complex technical infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills and a commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Surveillance Systems : Design, maintain, and troubleshoot the district's network surveillance camera video streaming system. Provide specifications for surveillance camera system and software implementations.
  • Access Control Systems : Maintain, repair, and test data cable and wiring for electronic door locks, access card readers, and other access control hardware. Monitor, manage, troubleshoot and maintain the district's Access Badge / ID system. Provide end-user training for district staff.
  • Building Automation Systems (BAS) : Provide specifications for BAS implementations for building safety and security systems in new construction and renovation projects. Coordinate projects in-house and with vendors. Oversee end-user management of BAS application systems. Troubleshoot and resolve database issues for district intrusion, surveillance, and BAS systems.
  • Fire and Life Safety Systems : Troubleshoot fire alarm systems for district facilities, including fire alarms, fire suppression, and smoke detection systems. Coordinate service and provide end-user training for district staff on the use of fire systems and alarm monitoring.
  • Project Management : Write professional RFPs and RFQs for facilities safety and security projects.
  • Technical Support : Provide end-user support for integrated systems, building intrusion, and life safety systems monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Emergency Response : Respond to after-hours calls and building emergencies.
  • System Evaluation and Improvement : Evaluate present systems and recommend system expansions, modifications, and / or replacements.
  • Continuous Learning : Stay current with industry trends in door access control, security camera systems, BAS, and related technologies.
  • Other Duties : Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Information Technology, Engineering, Building Automation) preferred.
  • Proven experience in managing and integrating building systems, including access control, surveillance, and BAS.
  • Strong understanding of network technologies, including LAN, WAN, and Active Directory.
  • Experience with database management and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in specifying and implementing hardware and software solutions.
  • Ability to read and interpret building drawings and blueprints.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with district staff, vendors, emergency responders, parents, and students.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with Google Docs and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment.
  • Able to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner.
