The Robert Benjamin Wiley Community Charter School is looking to fill one Supervisor of Special Education position.
Position Summary:
As the Supervisor of Special Education, you will organize and lead education for children in grades K-8 with learning difficulties. You will oversee special education programs and services and devise methods for assessing and implementing such programs. You will need to stay on top of special education issues, changes in state and federal laws, and methods of educating students who have learning difficulties.
You will use your expertise to develop special education curriculum and work with teams of educators as well as parents, school psychologist, school counselor, therapists and other school personnel. You will be an advocate for students who learn differently, bringing your understanding of legal, social and educational responsibilities to the LEA in which you work to ensure inclusive learning by working with the chief school administrator, administration team, teachers, and the school board of trustees.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Pennsylvania Supervisor of Special Education certificate or K-12 Principal Certificate
- Five years' experience with special education students
- Thorough understanding of all state and federal requirements for special education
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Supervise and evaluate assigned teaching staff.
- Ensure SPED caseloads are being properly maintained.
- Ensure record keeping compliance.
- Participate in the interviewing of prospective employees and provide recommendations for employment.
- Oversee the procedural compliance of all students' IEPs.
- Oversee class lists for child count accuracy.
- Serve on school's SAP committee.
- Ensure school compliance with Federal and State special education laws.
- Timely and accurately respond to audit reports and findings.
- Develop written school policies pertaining to special education services.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief School Administrator.
