Description
The Senior Natural Resources Scientist is responsible for implementing all phases of wetlands delineation and permitting, threatened and endangered species surveys, state and federal impact studies, and construction monitoring projects associated with natural resources; client communications; project management; and direction of junior staff.
Requirements
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
· Wetlands Delineation and Functions and Values Assessments
· Rare, Threatened and Endangered Species Surveys
· PA Chapter 105 and US Army Corps of Engineers Chapter 404 Studies
· NEPA Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Studies
· Market, sell and cross-sell professional services for all disciplines and office locations
· Establish new and maintain existing relationships with clients, subcontractors, etc.
· Prepare federal and state regulatory permit applications
· Manage the financial aspects of projects; invoicing and collections
· Communicate technical information to those with and without technical understanding
· Prepare and conduct effective presentations
· Prioritize and manage multiple projects
· Proactive and responsive communication with clients
· Communications and mentoring junior staff
Essential Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in biological sciences, environmental science, or related area
· 8 years of experience
· Wetlands Delineation and Wetland Scientist certifications
· Experience with threatened endangered species identification and permitting
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Project management experience
· Experience with managing support staff
· Organized and detailed oriented with excellent interpersonal skills
· Demonstrates the highest degree of ethical behavior and candor
· Exceptional oral and written communication skills including the ability to compose letters and complex reports and to orally communicate technical information to others in public presentations
· Ability to interact with Federal, State & Local government agencies and officials
· Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
· Able to perform in an environment that requires independent evaluation, judgment and decision making
· Ability to understand complex problems and to collaborate with others to explore alternative solutions
· Proficiency in GPS devices, digital data collection, and mapping software such as ArcGIS.
· Proficiency in field methods
· Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and CAD.
Essential Position Requirements:
· Occasional regional travel required
· Ability to work additional and/or nonstandard office hours, as required
· Must have working personal vehicle
· Ability to safely and comfortably operate a pickup truck, Ford 150 or equivalent
· Must be able to lift and carry 25 lbs. of equipment
· Ability to walk through brush, up hills, etc.
· Attendance at professional seminars and networking events
