We are in search of an Accounting Clerk for our client in Houma, Louisiana. In this role, you will be instrumental in handling a variety of responsibilities that span across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting. This role is within the construction and contractor industry and offers a short-term contract to full time employment opportunity.Responsibilities:• Assist with general accounting and administrative functions, which may include month-end closing and other ad hoc projects• Handle daily invoice and credit processing as part of accounts receivable duties• Aid in accounts payable tasks, such as vendor invoice and disbursement filing• Ensure accurate financial information is posted to journals, registers, and ledgers manually or using electronic equipment• Carry out transaction document corrections that may necessitate revising other documents or entries, and initiate other actions as needed• Utilize a variety of sources to prepare statements and reports• Help with budgetary control by monitoring budgets and initiating or verifying adjustments and transfers• Classify and code documents that require knowledge in determining proper classification of expenditure codes and accounting codes• Reconcile discrepancies by investigating all possible sources of disagreement, reconstructing probable actions, and understanding the effect on other accounts; prepare correction documents as required• Contribute to special projects and perform other related duties as assigned
