A manufacturing company in Alpharetta, GA is looking to hire a Controller/Accounting Manager for their growing operation.
They are targeting a 3-7 year Accountant - Sr. or Accounting Manager from a smaller outfit who is hands on and can step in and grow into a Controller quickly.
Notes on the Role:
- Pretty straight forward accounting, financial reporting, looking at accounts throughout the month, dealing with sales tax
- Experience with a project driven environment (average project 20-30MM three years in duration), CFO’s first real dive into this business they are about 80% project driven, how they get put together, percent complete
- Personality and fit, they are very relaxed and open, not someone who insists on everything being black and white, they have a great culture
- Doesn’t necessarily need to be a CPA

The Controller will have a crucial role in adapting the business and financial control in a significantly growing business.
Main responsibilities include:
Responsible for all accounting functions across multiple business areas, including monthly close of financial reporting under tight deadlines, include journal entry and reporting package review.
Oversees the internal accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and payroll.
Ensure Accounts Receivable activities are handled in a timely manner.
Ensuring timely and accurate compliance with federal, state, and local tax authorities.
- Act as central point of contact for external and internal audits relating to financial reporting and controls.
- Establishing and maintaining financial controls with the accounting department.
Overseeing company policy and procedures – ensuring they are followed at all times and introducing updates and enhancements as appropriate.
- Creating budgets and forecasts.
- Responsible for the company general ledger, including raising and processing accounting journals
- Develop internal control guidelines, policies, and procedures for budget accounting, cash and credit management, administration, and other activities.
- Oversee future enhancements to the ERP systems (SAP Business by Design) and ensure team is properly trained on those impacts to processes or month end close tasks.
- Partner with other group entities and teams’ regarding intercompany reporting to ensure proper recording and elimination of intercompany transactions.
- Month end reporting to Swedish consolidation system (Aaro), including processing of accounting entries to Aaro system for income statement, balance sheet and supporting schedules. Reconciling to the US ERP reports and production of month end management reports and the month end financial results presentation slides.
Candidate profile
The right candidate has the ability to manage and coordinate the daily operational finance work of the US business, with the ability to handle a tight closing period for month end. Further s/he has experience from driving process development and business controlling.
S/he ideally has experience from working in a project business and/or industrial production and so has a good understanding of project accounting and the method of percentage of completion. The Controller shouldhave strong interpersonal skills and be able to quickly build trust in different contexts and situations.
This is a hands-on role, and the successful applicant will be well versed in, and be able to prepare and undertake basic accounting tasks such as maintaining bank account in an ERP system, processing journals, reconciling accounts and processing accounting entries as needed.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field.
Proven experience (minimum 2 years – Maximum of 5 years)
Experience in financial and business control and comfortable to manage, initiate and drive change.
Ability to review general ledger reports, prepare closing journals and to close a month end for financial accounts and prepare key management reports at month end.
Strong track record in understanding the finance function from previous roles.
Demonstrated management and leadership skills.
Excellent presentation and business communication skills
Being proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Compensation and Benefits
100-140k bonus
