Seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations for an established financial services company in Galveston! The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in banking, insurance, or financial services and a proven ability to manage complex financial systems, provide insightful reporting, and support strategic decision-making.
Controller Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring alignment with GAAP and industry standards.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop budgets, forecasts, and financial strategies.
- Manage audits and serve as the primary contact for external auditors and regulatory examinations.
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability.
- Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and industry trends, implementing best practices.
Controller Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation strongly preferred.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in the banking, insurance, or financial services industry is required.
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems; advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across
