Robert Half Management Resources is currently looking for an experienced Controller to support an interim (potential contract to hire) role with a retail industry client, located in Delaware, Ohio. The interim Controller will oversee all Accounting Operations functions for the company, to include managing the Assistant Controller and Staff Accountant. Role will carry out accounting functions such as month-end close, quarter close, posting and reviewing journal entries, and owning the chart of accounts. Ideal candidates will be comfortable getting in the weeds with the accounting system, and leveraging reporting tools such as Power BI. This role is 100% onsite at the client's location in Delaware. This is an interim role, with potential for hire.

Responsibilities
- Lead the accounting team, which includes an assistant controller and an accounting analyst.
- Carry out accounting functions such as processing journal entries, and conducting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.
- Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel skills to manage and analyze financial data.
- Gain familiarity with our AS400 based ERP system to be able to use it effectively.
- Oversee the chart of accounts and ensure their accurate representation in our financial system.
- Actively participate in the planning and execution of interim periods.
- Show enthusiasm and energy in performing tasks and managing the team.
- Use Microsoft Power BI to create interactive visualizations and business intelligence capabilities with an interface that is easy to understand.
- Ensure the accuracy and efficiency in customer credit applications processing and maintaining customer credit records.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller role or similar position within the Retail industry
- Proficiency in Accounting Functions and familiar with standard practices in the field
- Experience in performing Month End Close, Quarter-end, and Year End Closings
- Ability to prepare and review Journal Entries
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel for data analysis and report generation
- Experience with Microsoft Power BI is a plus
- Knowledge in Power BI for data visualization and business analytics
- Prior experience in the Retail industry is essential, with a deep understanding of its dynamics and challenges.
