Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Director collaborates with both internal teams and external stakeholders to foster strong relationships while overseeing financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in financial management and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong partnerships internally across departments and externally with funded organizations, auditors, and business partners.
- Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to craft and execute innovative financial strategies that align with and propel the organization’s mission.
- Oversee the work of two senior accountants, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management to ensure operational excellence.
- Drive financial accountability and transparency by implementing and maintaining robust financial reporting and compliance mechanisms.
- Support cross-functional teams by contributing financial expertise to advance organizational goals and initiatives.
- Integrate the organization’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within financial processes, decision-making, and leadership.
- Serve as a primary financial liaison to auditors and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
- Align financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes with strategic priorities to enhance organizational impact.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to align financial operations with organizational goals.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate across teams and with external partners.
- Expertise in financial compliance, reporting, and regulatory requirements.

- Problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex financial challenges effectively.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in financial accounting, financial planning and analysis (FP& A), or strategy.
- At least 3-5 years of direct supervision and leadership experience, with a track record of managing high-performing teams.
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Demonstrated passion for the organization’s mission and ability to work as a self-starter in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- High proficiency with financial systems, modeling, and analytics to support innovative strategies.
