Description
We are in search of a GIS Analyst to join our team operating within the local government sector in Tampa, Florida. In this role, you will be tasked with the development and operation of a Geographic Information System (GIS), creating and updating maps, and ensuring the accuracy of data within our system. This role offers a long-term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
Develop and manage a Geographic Information System (GIS)
Create and update maps as required for projects
Analyze GIS data based on specified criteria and generate reports
Ensure tax parcels are up-to-date and contain accurate information
Maintain and update existing code for department functions
Develop macros to generate reports from GIS databases
Convert data from various sources for entry into databases
Design project maps and databases, analyzing reports and producing final prints
Utilize various types of plotters for final prints
Perform other tasks related to GIS data and mapping as needed.
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of detail-oriented experience as a GIS Analyst or a similar role in the Local Government industry.
Demonstrated proficiency in GIS mapping, with the ability to create, update, and manage GIS layers.
Extensive experience in managing GIS databases, including data entry, updates, and maintenance.
Proven track record in handling GIS data, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
In-depth knowledge of Geographic Information Systems, including software like ArcGIS and QGIS.
Familiarity with the use of Plotter for creating hardcopy maps or drawings from digital data.
Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to stay updated with the latest GIS technologies and trends.
