Robert Half Legal Permanent Placement is currently seeking a Full-Time Litigation Paralegal (35-40 hours per week) to join our clients' dynamic team in Hartford, CT. The ideal candidate will possess self-initiative, be proactive, have strong communication skills, and demonstrate proficiency in computer applications.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for handling various tasks to support our litigation practice, which include but are not limited to:
- Drafting correspondence and legal documents.
- Handling professional malpractice tasks.
- Managing discovery processes and timelines.
- Creating and maintaining organized case files, including implementing forwarding diaries for deadlines.
- Assisting with the preparation of pleadings and discovery responses.
- Obtaining medical records and other relevant documentation during discovery.
- Organizing and electronically filing legal pleadings and documents.
- Supporting trial, mediation, and discovery processes.
- Interacting with current and potential clients professionally and effectively.
- Demonstrating strong organizational skills to manage case documentation and file indexing.
- Utilizing analytical and interpersonal skills to contribute to case preparation.
Requirements: To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent experience as a paralegal in a Connecticut-based law firm.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years (preferably 4 years) as a litigation paralegal, with civil litigation experience required.
- Knowledge and Familiarity:
- Familiarity with Connecticut Superior Court procedures (Federal and appellate court experience is a plus).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe software.
- Additional experience or exposure to legal practice management tools (e.g., Clio) is preferred.
- Must exhibit a "team-player" mentality to work collaboratively with the firm's legal team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills for file, case, and deadline management.
- Exceptional attention to detail for high-quality document preparation and case handling.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills to liaise with clients, team members, and other stakeholders effectively.
