We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Processor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for a semi-monthly payroll of approximately 2,000 employees. This role involves coordinating with multiple departments, managing payroll-related tasks, and staying up to date with tax regulations. Key Responsibilities:
- Gather timecards and collaborate with team members to finalize time for payroll processing.
- Process payroll, verify deductions, address retro-pay for promotions and leaves of absence, and pre-balance accounts.
- Input payroll into the accounts payable (AP) system, review for accuracy, and approve for further processing.
- Use Payroll System to process payroll, create tickets for settlements, and ensure checks are processed by the appropriate team.
- Collaborate with managers, team members, and other departments to clarify payroll-related queries and ensure smooth processes.
- Monitor and manage tax allocations, especially for employees working in or residing in different states.
- Provide clear communication to employees regarding W-2 forms and payroll tax-related matters in Workday.
- Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees, managers, and department leads.
- Process approximately 75-80 invoices per day and assist with off-cycle payroll processes as needed.
- Run reports, process charity payments, and delegate miscellaneous tasks to interns.
- Work with the accounts payable team, as payroll functions overlap by about 50%.
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of payroll systems.
- Attention to detail and the ability to process and verify high volumes of data accurately.
- Familiarity with state-specific tax regulations and transient workforce needs.
- Excellent communication skills, ensuring clear employee support on payroll or tax-related inquiries.
- Strong organizational skills to successfully manage weekly and semi-monthly payroll tasks.
- Collaborative work ethic, including the ability to engage with other departments, managers, and interns effectively.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency with payroll and accounting systems (Workday experience required).
- 2 years of experience in payroll processing.
- Knowledge of multi-state payroll compliance and tax regulations.
- Experience working with semi-monthly payroll for a large employee base is preferred.
- Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
