We are seeking a dedicated and experienced California-licensed litigation attorney to support a prominent insurance defense firm on a remote basis. This opportunity offers a chance to work with a highly regarded legal team in a dynamic and long-term capacity. The ideal candidate will be experienced in civil litigation and comfortable managing a high-volume caseload while delivering exceptional legal services in a remote environment.
This role is available as a long-term contract or contract-to-hire opportunity, providing flexibility and potential for growth with the firm. Candidates licensed in California who reside out of state may also be considered, provided they can work a consistent schedule aligned with Pacific Standard Time (PST) hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with various aspects of civil litigation ranging from motion practice, discovery and document review and trial preparations, based on your level of expertise in a particular area.
- Conduct legal research and prepare well-reasoned legal memoranda.
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and the court.
- Manage deadlines and maintain a detailed calendar to ensure compliance with court rules and statutory requirements.
- Provide case strategy recommendations and work collaboratively with the legal team.
- Handle insurance defense matters, including cases involving personal injury, property damage, or other types of civil litigation.
Qualifications:
- Active licensure to practice law in California (required).
- Minimum 1-5 years of civil litigation experience, with prior insurance defense experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of California state court procedures and rules of evidence.
- Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote setting while meeting deadlines.
- Tech-savvy and proficient with litigation-related software tools, MS Office Suite, and case management systems.
- Ability to commit to a set schedule during PST hours, regardless of location.
